The Muslim Society of Leeds (MSL) has been officially in operation since January 2003. Even though its members had been striving to serve the Muslim community many years before meeting. They met regularly to discuss issues relating to the Muslim community at large. After many years of collaborating with different persons and organisations in the Muslim community in and around Leeds, it was decided to create an Organisation that would work for the good of the Muslims and wider communities of Leeds and surrounding areas. This led to the formation of the Muslim Society of Leeds (MSL) as it is known today, creating community friendly projects and working with different organisations for the wider good.

Since its inception from humble beginnings MSL has gone from strength to strength. It has grown to provide many needed community projects and services for the Muslim and wider communities at large. In 2006 the Leeds Muslim College was established to provide courses on Islam for children ranging from 3 years to 19 years of age. The college now offers a range of GCSE's and A-Levels in Islamic and Religious Studies.
